In 2005 a consultation paper was undertaken to start the process of forming a motor project in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Following the publication of the study a steering group was formed. This group worked for the following three years to raise funds, secure premises and form partnerships to enable the motor project to become a reality. During this time relationships with SKIDZ – The Wycombe Motor Project were maintained with several of the partners working together on separate projects.

When SKIDZ Wycombe was approached by Porsche UK Ltd with an offer to channel substantial funding and support for a London based motor project through SKIDZ, Hillingdon was the natural choice.

Peter Sale, Director of Hillingdon Training Ltd, said “This generous donation from Porsche along with funding and support from Hillingdon Community Trust, Hillingdon Council, Hillingdon Youth and Connexions Service, Skillnet and the partner organisations will mean the project will be able to deliver courses in motor vehicle maintenance to young people across the Borough”.

David Lister, Chair of Trustees at SKIDZ Wycombe said “The financial support from Porsche has enabled all the other parts of this public, private, charitable partnership to come together allowing the creation of another motor project. This new project will benefit the young people in the Borough of Hillingdon.  As pure academic education does not suit everyone, the motor projects are one way of allowing young persons to excel at something that interests them and captures their imagination. This is a powerful tool for changing lives”.
